Even though popular opinion leans towards the impossibility of sleeping comfortably on a sleeper sofa, there are so many versions out there, that you're bound to find one that works for you. The biggest advantage of sleeper sofas, is their ability to morph into a bed - which is why so many people choose them for smaller areas. Sleeper sofas and chairs work especially well when you are living in a tiny space, have guests visiting, and the space required for an extra bed is simply not available.
Now as I mentioned earlier, a vintage sofa can be a steep expense, but if you're lucky, you can find a steal. Remember that sometimes, you may have to restuff the cushions, reupholster the sofa, and get the frame refinished and strengthened. All these extras can escalate the cost of a vintage sofa quickly. Even then, if it is still cheaper than a new sofa (i.e., a reproduction), you are in luck!
To summarize on a positive note, let's say that occasional naps on the couch are fine, even a night, perhaps once a while. But making the couch your permanent sleeping area is a strict NO.
Some sectional sofas have two couches, perhaps one regular and one with recliners. Or a recliner sofa and a sleeper sofa. Regardless of the types of sofas, there is almost always a corner piece that joins the two sofas together to form one unit. The corner comes in two forms, either curved or at a 90 degree angle. The curved sectional sofas usually look more comfy, the curved corner helping to form a continuous line. The 90 degree corner looks more polished and modern.
